The authors’ craft a compelling story and I recognized some behaviors and outcomes from throughout my career reflected in the pages. It is apparent that years of consulting have refined the books message, which plain and simple, is that without IT governance a company will lose one of its most strategic enablers. While the story kept the pages turning, I also appreciated the concept tutorials in the back of the book. These would be a big help for quickly implementing some of the concepts. This is a great book for IT staff starting to move up the management ladder or for executives looking to leverage the greatest potential from their IT departments.

This is an excellent book about how IT can have an impact on the success of a company. The information unfolds in the form of a story and it was an enjoyable read – I wanted to read on to find out what happens in the story. The learning is the important part – learning how Information Technology can make a huge difference for a company. I can recommend this book for business leaders and IT professionals who want to learn about how they can leverage IT to take their company to higher levels of success. There is a great section of information at the end as well that gives great takeaways on IT Governance best practices, Business Intelligence, Outsourcing, ERP Systems, CRM Systems, Managing IT Risks, and more. The Edge does just that, it keeps you on the edge of your seat as you follow a small business owner grapple with the challenges of a growing closely-held business. This is a wonderful read, similar to one of my favorite books, the Goal by Eliyahu Goldratt. The business fable helps brings you in to the real world challenges that are often misunderstood by a bottleneck in IT. As a finance business executive who has been responsible for IT throughout much of my career, a few of the stories bring the hairs on the back of my neck as a many of us has experienced these challenges in the past. This is a great read for management and business teams who are going through an IT implementation. The IT summary in the back of the books provide excellent leadership questions and definitions to help get everyone on the same page.

This is a great book. Easy to read and understand as you follow a struggling company going through growth. But it successfully gets the point across on the value of IT in your company. IT is not a cost center, not a dreaded evil of having to update software and hardware without returns but a valuable asset to your company but only if used properly. This book helps the reader understand how you need to change your thought process about IT.
The real hard part comes after you read the book and now you want to do something about what is going on in your own company. Contact Manoj, he can help you actually move forward and change your company!
Only for business people but not IT people. The solution of the problems is oversimplified and over optimistic. Yet, easy to read.
What a great book! I have a lot of business related books and this is right up there. IT has gone from a supporting role to a prominent seat the head table in business and this book tells a great story that illustrates why that is. With the evolution of real time information, dashboards, mobile interface, great IT can be the difference between losing and winning in business. Told in form of an attention keeping story, it was a book that was hard to put down as I always wanted to know what will happen next.
